Albania Harmonised Inflation Rate YoY
A monthly measure of Albania’s consumer-price inflation compared with the same month a year earlier, based on the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices.
Full explanation
Albania Harmonised Inflation Rate YoY shows how much prices paid by consumers have changed from the same month a year earlier, using Albania’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices. It tracks a representative basket of household goods and services and is designed using harmonised concepts that support comparison with European inflation measures. The annual rate compares the current month’s HICP level with its level 12 months earlier. It is published monthly by Albania’s Institute of Statistics (INSTAT).
Why traders watch it
The release provides a timely read on Albanian consumer-price pressures, purchasing power and the inflation environment relevant to domestic interest-rate expectations, government-bond pricing and the Albanian lek.
Stronger vs weaker outcomes
A higher-than-expected annual rate may point to firmer price pressure and could draw attention to inflation persistence and monetary-policy expectations. A lower-than-expected rate may indicate easing annual price pressure, though markets may also assess the monthly change, category detail, base effects and other domestic developments.
Typical volatility
Moderate. Year-over-year inflation can be materially affected by price movements a year earlier. Changes in basket weights, classification updates, regulated prices, food and energy costs, and revisions or methodological changes can affect comparisons over time.
