Full explanation

A setup is the picture, not the entry. It is the combination of market condition, level, and behaviour that tells you an opportunity of the type you trade may be forming.

A setup on its own is never a reason to click. It puts a pair on the watchlist and tells you what you are waiting to see next.

Naming your setups matters. If you cannot describe the setup you are in, you are reacting to price rather than trading a plan.

Why traders watch it

Traders who do not define setups end up taking whatever the screen offers, which makes results impossible to review. Defined setups let you count how each type performs and drop the ones that do not pay.

Trading considerations

  • Write down the two or three setups you actually trade and ignore the rest.
  • A setup is a candidate, not a signal — it still needs a trigger.
  • Tag every journal entry with the setup name so you can review them separately.

Educational guidance only — never a trading signal or recommendation.
