Trading rules

The written instructions that decide what you trade, how much you risk and when you stop.

Full explanation

Rules cover more than entries. A workable set says which pairs and sessions you trade, the maximum risk per trade, the maximum loss per day, what has to be true to enter, and what closes a position.

Rules are only real if they are written and reviewed. Rules held in your head bend under pressure, and you will not notice they bent.

Good rules are few, specific and testable. A rule you cannot check afterwards in your journal is a preference, not a rule.

Why traders watch it

Rules are what stop a bad hour from becoming a bad month. They convert discipline from willpower into a checklist.

Trading considerations

  • Keep the whole set on one page.
  • Include a daily loss limit, not only per-trade risk.
  • Review broken rules weekly — the pattern matters more than the individual breach.

Educational guidance only — never a trading signal or recommendation.
